ETHEL Premieres at Sundance
Our specialized documentary research team worked with Moxie Firecracker Film’s LA-based production team to license footage for ETHEL, a portrait of the life of Ethel Kennedy, directed by her Emmy Award-winning daughter—Rory Kennedy—with ongoing support from HBO Documentary Films. The majority of the video that Moxie Firecracker licensed for ETHEL came from our offline CBS News archive. The archival content they utilized features a range of events and icons from the 1940s through the 1960s that impacted the Kennedy family, such as the assassination of JFK and Martin Luther King, Jr., the McCarthy trials, news coverage of Robert Kennedy’s political campaigns, and the Vietnam War. The clips we provided put the film’s intimate interviews with Ethel Kennedy and her children into context. ETHEL premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2012 and is scheduled for broadcast on HBO this Summer. For more information on the film…
